The AWN developers releases a new version of Synapse a.k.a. “Acetylcholine”. Synapse is a app launcher written in Vala that you can use to start applications as well as find and access relevant documents and files by making use of the Zeitgeist engine. It is similar to “Gnome Do” and has almost the same features.

Among the new plugins released are calculator, pastebin, Imgur to upload images  and a selection plugin which allows you to perform actions on selected text. Synapse also allows you search by type: with a few click you can search through all the video files, audio files, folders or  text.

Install Synapse in Ubuntu

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:synapse-core/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install synapse pastebinit

To start Synapse just go to Applications -> Accessories -> Synapse , once started you can use CTRL + SPACE to launch.
