Realplayer is a free media player available for Mac, Windows and Linux to play, manage and download all your mp3, flash and video files. Realplayer 11 enables the user to easily transfer video, music, and photos between the computer and mobile devices, share links of videos and photos to sites such as Facebook and MySpace, and download videos from popular sites such as YouTube and Meta Cafe with one click.

This tutorial will help you to install RealPlayer and enable firefox plugin to download streaming videos.

Installation

To install in Ubuntu, open the terminal and type:

wget http://www.real.com/realcom/R?href=http://forms.real.com/real/player/download.html?f=unix/RealPlayer11GOLD.bin
chmod a+x RealPlayer11GOLD.bin
sudo ./RealPlayer11GOLD.bin

To enable RealPlayer extension in Firefox to download streaming videos, type in the terminal:

cp /opt/real/RealPlayer/mozilla/nphelix.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/nphelix.so && cp /opt/real/RealPlayer/mozilla/nphelix.xpt ~/.mozilla/plugins/nphelix.xpt

Now you can find RealPlayer under  Applications–>Sound & Video–>Real Player11
