Audacious is a simple, fast and lightweight audio player. It is one of my personal favorites and i suggest you to try it out. Audacious is extendable through plugins and other useful features like LIRC support and last.fm. It supports Winamp skins and the ability to play MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC and Monkey’s Audio.Audacious 2.4.3 comes with some fixes for stability problems found in the previous version.
To install Audacious 2.4.3 in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick, start the Terminal and type:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/maverick
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install audacious audacious-plugins
If you are looking for a light resource audio player for old system, try Pogo Music Player – it is similar to Audacious.
