If  you are a windows user or have used windows, you might have come across ‘CCleaner’ a app used to clean temporary files, registry, internet histories, unused files…etc. Well BleechBit is a similar app for Ubuntu doing all the same functions of Registry Mechanic or CCleaner along with shredding files to prevent recovery, wiping free disk space to hide traces of files deleted by other applications, and vacuuming Firefox to make it faster.
BleachBit is not new but now it hits version 0.8.7. The new version offers Thunderbird support on openSUSE and it has fixed many bugs. It clears history in applications like Firefox, Thunderbird, Adobe Flash, Google Chrome, Opera and many more

Key Highlights in BleachBit 0.8.7

  • Supports Thunderbird on openSUSE 11.3
  • Fix wrong button label when adding folders for overwrite disk space and for whitelist
  • When cleaning localizations, show warning to point user to configuration
  • Packagers: BleachBit will try to use the built-in json module on Python 2.6+

You can download it @ http://bleachbit.sourceforge.net/download/linux

There is also a bonus (pack includes extra cleaners) for ubuntu, it can be downloaded from here
