The default photo manager in Ubuntu 10.10 – Shotwell hits version 0.8.1. Shotwell can manage, organize and even edit your photos. This new version includes many bug fixes,  support for new video formats and  numerous translation updates and fixes.

Shotwell can import photos from your camera, view, edit and upload them to Flickr or PicasaWeb. Basic photo editing works like cropping, color balance, red – eye removal etc can be done with Shotwell.

The previous version could crash unexpectedly at start up or when reading or writing metadata to files. The new version solves this main issue.
