After several issues relating to MSN crash problems and security bugs, the new Pidgin 2.7.9 was released resolving the the previous problems and comes with many new security updates. For those you who don’t know about Pidgin, it is a multi-account IM, it supports ICQ, IRC, MSN, Gtalk, SILC and many other.

To install / update Pidgin 2.7.9 in Ubuntu 10.10 and 10.04, simply open the terminal type:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ferramroberto/pidgin
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pidgin
