Finally the much awaited iOS 4.2 will be releasing within a few days and it seems as if the Jailbreaks and Unlocks will go public soon. The GM version of iOS 4.2 is already available for download and is targeted for Apple’s developer community for now. It is recommended to backup iOS 4.1 SHSH Blobs on their iPhone 4, iPhone 3G/ 3GS (Jailbroken or stock) before upgrading their handsets and devices to the iOS 4.2.
Why To Save SHSH Blobs?
The core purpose of saving SHSH blobs is to secure future jailbreak. If you want to downgrade back to and older iOS 4.x, you will need your SHSH blobs saved either on Cydia or in your computer via TinyUmbrella.

How to Save SHSH Blobs for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch in Windows and Mac
Step 1:
Download TinyUmbrella from here. (Mac users: Copy the app to your desktop)
Step 2:
Run TinyUmbrella.
Step 3:
Connect your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, 3G, iPod Touch 4G, 3G 2G, iPad or Apple TV 2G to your computer. TinyUmbrella will detect your iDevice.
Step 4:
Make sure that you iTunes is not running. Now click on ‘Save My SHSH’.
TinyUmbrella will save SHSH blobs of your current firmware and all those blobs that you had saved for older firmwares (if any). Now you can find the saved SHSH file directory under advanced Tab on TinyUmbrella.
