Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal will use Banshee as default player

Yeah, the previous Rhythmbox Media player used in ubuntu is now replaced by the famous Banshee Media player. A small statistics shows, five months from August through December, Banshee users earned the GNOME Foundation over $2,200 USD via the integrated AmazonMP3 store!

Now Banshee has the some key features like:

  • Device Sync: Sync your music and videos to your Android, iPod, iPhone, or other device – or import its media
  • Podcasts: Download or stream podcasts and video podcasts
  • Album Art: Cover art is immediately fetched for your music
  • Powerful Search, Smart Playlists: Find exactly what you want, fast
  • Play Queue: Queue up songs, videos, and podcasts, or let the Auto DJ take over
  • Shuffle Modes: Shuffle (or Auto DJ) by artist, album, rating, or even songs’ acoustic similarity

I feel Banshee is comparatively better than Rhythmbox. At lest the Ubuntu foundation thinks so! This change can be found in the Natty Narwhal daily build.
