Install VLC 2.0.1 in Ubuntu 12.04 / 11.10 [PPA]

Here is the latest update of VLC media player 2.0 “Twoflower”. The updated version can now be installed in Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin and Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot via PPA. VLC 2.0.1 has support for MxPEG files and streams and limited support for Bluray discs menus.

Numerous fixes for MKV support, fix for splitted RAR files playback, Codec and 3rd party libraries security updates are made made in the new version.

To install VLC 2.0.1 in Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin or Ubuntu 11.04 Oneiric Ocelot, open the Terminal (Press Ctrl+Alt+T) and run the following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install vlc
