Install VirtualBox 4.0.4 in Ubuntu 11.04 / 10.10 / 10.04

Almost a month after the previous version, VirtualBox has just released the new version 4.0.4 . For those who don’t know about VirtualBox please refer this post and come back. The new version of VirtualBox 4.0.4 is a bugfix release that improves the security and stability.

To install VirtualBox 4.0.4 in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty / 10.10 Maverick / 10.04 Lucid, open Terminal and type the following:

wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/964512/vb_4.0.sh
chmod +x vb_4.0.sh
./vb_4.0.sh

This will install VirtualBox 4.0.4 in your Ubuntu. I haven’t tried it out yet, so if you have any problems related to installation please comment below.

   i had tried to install virtual box by using your steps, it gives the following errors

   VirtualBox: dlopen(“/usr/lib/virtualbox/VBoxRT.so”,) failed: libcurl.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

   VirtualBox: Tip! It may help to reinstall VirtualBox.

   i m facing some issue in Virtualbox. Can you please help me to get rid of it. i m new to linux

   Failed to open a session for the virtual machine umacentos.
   The virtual machine ‘umacentos’ has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1.

   RTR3Init failed with rc=-1912 (rc=-1912)

   Please install the virtualbox-ose-dkms package and execute ‘modprobe vboxdrv’ as root.
