Install VirtualBox 4.0.4 in Ubuntu 11.04 / 10.10 / 10.04

Almost a month after the previous version, VirtualBox has just released the new version 4.0.4 . For those who don’t know about VirtualBox please refer this post and come back. The new version of VirtualBox 4.0.4 is a bugfix release that improves the security and stability.

To install VirtualBox 4.0.4 in Ubuntu 11.04 Natty / 10.10 Maverick / 10.04 Lucid, open Terminal and type the following:

chmod +x

This will install VirtualBox 4.0.4 in your Ubuntu. I haven’t tried it out yet, so if you have any problems related to installation please comment below.

  2. i had tried to install virtual box by using your steps, it gives the following errors

    ./ line 8: cd: /root/Desktop: No such file or directory
    VirtualBox: Error -610 in supR3HardenedMainInitRuntime!
    VirtualBox: dlopen(“/usr/lib/virtualbox/”,) failed: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

    VirtualBox: Tip! It may help to reinstall VirtualBox.
