Install Ubuntu Theme in Windows 7 – Maverick For Win7

If you are a die hard fan of Ubuntu and still <forced> to use Windows 7 at your workplace or more likely own a Windows 7 pre installed laptop, then here is how you can transform your Windows 7 to Ubuntu. A few of Ubuntu transformation packs for Windows 7 are available for free on Deviant Art.
The most striking theme is Maverick for Win7 with looks almost similar to Ubuntu Ambience Theme. It features the Ubuntu 10.10 default wallpaper and ubuntu sound set.

To install Maverick for Windows 7, follow these steps
In addition to this, if you want to further tweak the customization, then you can install the Ubuntu Iconsets, Gdipp font tweak, Windows 7 Start button changer etc for a more Maverick look.

  • Copy the content of Theme folder in “C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\” (Asuming that you’re Windows 7 is installed on partition C)
  • To change the Start orb, Use Windows 7 Start Button Changer from the “Tools” folder to change the start orb.Launch Windows 7 Start Button Changer and choose the BMP from the “Resources/Start Orb – Ubuntu” folder and you’re done!
  • To remove the blurred edges of the windows, Use Windows 7 Aero Blur Tweaker from the “Tools” folder to remove the windows blur.

In addition to this, if you want to further tweak the customization, then you can install the Ubuntu Iconsets, Gdipp font tweak, Windows 7 Start button changer etc for a more Maverick look.
