Install Adobe Flash Player 10.2 Beta in Ubuntu / Windows

Adobe Flash Player 10.2 beta was released today with preliminary support for Stage Video which will increase the performance of video content across all platforms. It also has enhanced text rendering, and a native custom mouse cursors API and support for full screen playback with multiple monitors. As indicated by Abode this version was intended for Windows Vista and 7 users to take full advantage of the GPU hardware acceleration with Internet Explorer 9. However, the version is also available for Linux and OS X (only for 32-bit).

Installation

To install in Ubuntu 10.10, open the terminal and type:

wget http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/flashplayer10_2_p2_32bit_linux_111710.tar.gz
tar zxvf flashplayer10_2_p2_32bit_linux_111710.tar.gz
sudo cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/

I you have Ubuntu older than 10.04 , simply type:

wget http://download.macromedia.com/pub/labs/flashplayer10/flashplayer10_2_p2_32bit_linux_111710.tar.gz
tar zxvf flashplayer10_2_p2_32bit_linux_111710.tar.gz
sudo cp libflashplayer.so /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/
